Alex Alexeev was born in 1970. He learned playing piano by himself and started writing melodies which finally were recorded in a jazz trio - a musical form that best expresses his attitude in music - strong melody, lyricism, romanticism. In 2008 he an independent record company - Birch Records.
By 2012 Birch Records had released Alex's first three albums – "Tales" 2008, "Sincerus" 2009 and “The Third” in 2012. Alex records music in an alliance with Eugene Boretz (Serg Hutas – double-bass, Alex Zinger & Sergey Ostroumov - drums) and Michael Savine (saxophone). After several years of collaborating together they recorded their first album - “Tales” in 2008 at Birch Records Studio. |
Ten months later they set off for the ECM Rainbow Studio in Oslo to record the second album – “Sincerus” (2009).
In December, 2012 Alex Alexeev trio recorded “The Third” album at Rainbow studio. "Tales" and "Sincerus" albums comprise a melodic menu of solo and band arrangements led by acoustic piano and sometimes by a saxophone. It is a melodic jazz where classical piano school is clearly heard. The music stresses a melodic instrumental approach with fresh sounding piano-led tracks based on mostly medium-tempo grooves. The musicianship is best expressed in the refined integration of different forms, combining the rigorous technique of classical, the improvisation of jazz, and the fresh, ingenious approach into one exhilarating musical experience. |
